Space Invaders Socks

Am Freitag Abend fertig geworden passend zur Anlieferung einer niegelnagelneuen Playstation 3 – vom Lieblingsmann heiß ersehnt und nun sofort in Betrieb genommen – sind diese lustigen Space Invaders Socken. Für alle, die es noch nicht gesehen haben: Das Muster heißt eigentlich BMP und stammt aus der aktuellen Knitty. Natürlich ging auch dieses Strickprojekt nicht ohne irgendwelche Abwandlungen von statten. Es war erst mein zweites mehrfarbgestricktes Projekt und ich bin mächtig stolz auf mich. Right in time for the delivery of a brand spanking new Playstation 3 – after ages of longing promptly put into operation by dearest husband – these funny space invaders socks got done. In case anybody hasn’t seen the original: They are actually called BMP and can be found at Knitty’s latest issue. Of course no pattern I work comes without any alterations. Since this was just my second Fair Isle project I’m mighty proud of myself right now.

My Space Invaders Socks

Material: Regia Sock Yarn in charcoal, off-white and acidic green.
Needles: 2.5 mm DPNs
Alterations:

• Corrugated ribbing worked over 80 stitches
• Cuff worked over 78 stitches which means only 6 repeats of space invaders chart and some a bit more serious changes in the high-score chart. If you wanna know any details, e-mail me, please.
• Foot worked on 72 stitches
• Exchanged short row heel for regular taught-by-granny, round heel. Dearest husband would never ever have gotten into the socks with a short row heel
